What Is A Meeting?

-A JewBelong Original

Jewish meetings often start with a D’var Torah or Drash which is a short talk with a lesson that usually takes inspiration from the week’s Torah portion. When a D’var Torah is done well, it is a moment before getting into the business of the meeting, to connect, remember why they are there, and hopefully be a little inspired too. The concept of the D’var Torah is the inspiration for this Meeting Blessing, which is a JewBelong original.

First line: What is a meeting? Last line: May we use our time well and experience even a small measure, of satisfaction, insight, and comradery for with that, our success can add joy and meaning to the world…

Your Talent Determines What You Can Do

-Lou Holtz

A football player/college coach wrote this short one. Also good for a T-shirt.

First line: Your talent determines what you can do. Last line: Your attitude determines how well you do it…

Your Work Is Going To Fill A Large Part Of Your Life

-Steve Jobs

Warning… depending on how you feel about your job, this reading might make you feel s*#tty. If that’s the case, think of this reading by Steve Jobs as, well… aspirational.

First line: Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. Last line: Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it…

May Your Work Excite Your Heart

-John O’Donahue

Okay, not kidding, if you are a manager and read this to your group at work, they might think you are a little sappy, but inside they will love you.

First line: May your work excite your heart, kindle in your mind a creativity to journey beyond the old limits of all that has become wearisome. Last line: May it challenge and refine you, bringing you every day further into the wonder of your heart…

Why make an account?

Because why use any of your precious brain cells to remember where you kept those great readings that you’ll use someday at Jeffrey’s B Mitzvah? Make an account, keep the readings there. Easy peasy. The only thing you’ll need to remember is your password, and from personal experience that’s hard enough.
